Social Interest Solutions Recognized by Leading Independent Research Firm as an Emerging Technology Vendor to Watch in 2012

SACRAMENTO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Social Interest Solutions (SIS), a mission-driven, nonprofit organization dedicated to leveraging technology innovation to improve consumers’ access to eligible health and human services, today announced it was cited as one of several noteworthy companies to watch in the “Emerging Technology Vendors That Insurance Enterprise Architects Should Watch in 2012” report (October 25, 2011) published by Forrester Research, Inc., one of the world’s most respected technology research firms.

“Emerging Technology Vendors That Insurance Enterprise Architects Should Watch in 2012.”

Forrester narrowed contenders to a list of eleven business technology vendors that address key business drivers and challenges facing the insurance industry, including the health insurance industry. Recognized vendors offer emerging technology solutions relevant to enterprise architects across the insurance industry spectrum.

“Legislation such as the 2010 Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act is spawning new relevance to business models that can help enterprise architects design streamlined delivery of mandated services - such as those provided by Social Interest Solutions,” said Forrester Research, Inc.

"As the insurance industry readies for health care reform, new challenges arise for technologists and government and business leaders serving this industry” said Bobbie Wilbur, co-director at Social Interest Solutions. “This is certainly the case for the health insurance industry in which new business models and mandates are creating new demands for more efficient, streamlined applications and processes to connect consumers to public and private health coverage. Social Interest Solutions is pleased to be recognized for our innovative solutions that enable entities in the health insurance industry to meet increasing consumer and regulatory demands.”

Driving much of the demand for new business models and streamlined application efficiencies in the health care industry is the Affordable Care Act (ACA) which requires each state demonstrate readiness to have a health insurance exchange plan in place by January 1, 2013 and a functioning exchange in place by January 1, 2014. Exchanges will provide a place for individuals and small businesses to shop for and buy health coverage or be enrolled in public or subsidized coverage. The demands of ACA are forcing organizations in the health care industry to rethink their technology strategies, processes and information technology infrastructure – all of which are areas Social Interest Solutions addresses.

For nearly a decade, Social Interest Solutions has helped states navigate the complex challenges affiliated with modernizing health care IT systems and processes affiliated with health and social services eligibility and enrollment. Drawing on this depth of technical experience, Social Interest Solutions is actively working with states on both the technical and policy fronts to help them prepare for, and implement health insurance exchanges.
