GROVELAND, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The Vermont winter is fast approaching. Hundreds of families in the Green Mountain State are still working hard to make their flood-damaged homes and businesses habitable in the wake of Hurricane Irene. A spirited group of musicians, artists, and food purveyors from Massachusetts and New Hampshire has rallied to help.

The Wabenauki Festival, to be held from noon to 5:00 p.m. at Veasey Park in Groveland, will feature an all-star lineup of local talent in music, art, cooking and baking. All proceeds from the event will go to the Mad River Valley Community Fund, a locally-based charitable organization that is overseeing the disbursement of emergency aid for repair and reconstruction in five hard-hit communities of central Vermont.
“The enthusiastic response by our volunteer performers, artists, and businesses has been most heartening, and more are planning to take part,” said festival chair Teresa Brugman. “We’re looking forward to a great afternoon of fun and artistry, rain or shine. The Veasey Park facility is indoors, and handicap-accessible. All ages are welcome.”
Musical and singing groups scheduled to perform include:
- Waterfront Park String Band (Newburyport, MA) - Bluegrass, Folk and Country.
- Folksoul Ensemble (Greenfield, NH) - Classics of American folk and rock 'n roll
- Deep Hole Road (Hampstead & Chester, NH) - Traditional and contemporary Blues, Bluegrass, Old Time, Folk, Cajun and Celtic.
- Kathy Bennett and Thom Perkins (Jackson & Madison, NH) Blending original music and their own arrangements of works by songwriters around the world.
- Mollie’s Misfits (North Shore Massachusetts) Traditional Celtic, fiddle, 60’s acoustic rock and contemporary folk/rock.

Brugman stated that the suggested donation for attendees is $15.00, but all contributions are welcome.
