The LEA triumphantly returned to Newport, RI June 7-9, 2010 for the annual summer meeting. This was the group’s first visit to this picturesque venue in many years and the return was warmly welcomed by the membership and their guests. The lobster bake, as always, was a hit !
Both the facilities and educational program were outstanding and received many compliments from attending members and their guests.
The meeting began with a General Session on Identity Theft and included workshops on Green Buildings, Managing Resources on Large Losses, Reinsurance Claims , and Boiler and Machinery losses.
While the membership looks forward to a return to Newport in June 2011, there remains a small matter involving an 80th Anniversary that requires celebrating. The event will be held at the Tampa Marriott Waterside between February 2-4, 2011 and will kick off with the Gala Welcoming Reception at 6:00pm on Wednesday February 2, 2011.
We strongly recommend making your reservations early for this event, as attendance is sure to be high. The LEA also encourages you to register an eligible guest, to introduce them to the benefits of membership.
However, please note that registration materials will no longer be mailed in the familiar large envelopes we have become accustomed to receiving. In an effort to improve our carbon footprint, beginning with the Tampa 2011 meeting, the LEA will only be providing an electronic notice of the meeting dates, with registration materials being available through the website (www.lossexecutives.com).
Similarly, we are streamlining the attendee lists that will be provided in Tampa, to reduce the amount of paper and are seeking further ways to “go green”.
The program, which will include workshops on Code Upgrades, Ethics, Deposition Prep and Trial Testimony, and Appraisal, continues the standard of excellence long established by LEA.
In addition to the usual outstanding workshops, there will be several procedural matters to attend to during the opening business meeting that will begin at 8:15am to accommodate the 80th Anniversary agenda.
In particular, the Board of Directors has proposed changes to the LEA by-laws and wording of the anti-trust admonition, which will be presented to the membership for approval. These proposed changes will be e-mailed to the membership shortly for review, to enable voting at the Tampa 2011 meeting.
We look forward to seeing you in Tampa ! Spread the word ! Bring a friend !
